With ‘adulting’ came a new love for intimate and intentional spaces, and an obsession with finding new ways to create and evoke different feelings from my space. I created HOZEI as symbol and constant reminder that any space can be designed to express beautiful memories and tell incredible stories. 

Let’s start with candles, because that’s really where this all started. I’ve always been a lover of scents, but it was in designing our first little home that I became extremely particular about what we burn and where. I took inspiration from scents I was familiar with, and then began exploring scents I just didn’t smell enough of. Candles very quickly became less of a ‘thing you just randomly pick up from the shelves’ and more of an emotional science and artistic expression in our home. The containers matter. The shapes matter. The wax matters. The colours matter. And of course, if at all, the scent matters.
